Pink Moon Milk | Herbalism Inspired
Pink moon milk -- so girly, so magical, so fun to drink. This honey-sweetened milky tea recipe is calming to the nervous system and great as part of your pre-sleep routine. Chamomile is mildly sedative, passionflower is calming to the nervous system and rose is uplifting to the spirit. Oat milk is also mildly nourishing to the nervous system, which you might have intuited from how satisfying a bowl of oatmeal can be. And, well, it’s pink. It’s just HAPPY. Don’t you agree?
This drink is a cup of soothing calm, especially excellent for any time you’re feeling stressed, anxious or fearful. Both chamomile and passionflower are known to ease heightened emotions, soften the effects of stress, induce peaceful sleep and relieve muscle spasms. I drink this exact blend whenever I’m getting butterflies in my tummy, feeling restless or getting tension headaches. Works like a charm.
Did I mention it’s delicious? Lightly herbaceous, sweet, creamy and scented with rose.
The pink color comes from dragonfruit powder, which is a bit of an investment I admit. I also like beet and hibiscus powder for providing red/pink color and they’re far more affordable.

Pink Moon Milk Recipe
Prep time: 5-10 mins - Makes: 1 large serving
Notes: Dragonfruit (pitaya) powder offers the best soft pink color. Beet and hibiscus are both naturally a deeper, richer red so using them to color this drink results in a reddish-pink color. I get my beet and hibiscus powder from Mountain Rose and my dragonfruit powder from Suncore.
Ingredients
1 tsp loose chamomile
1 tsp loose passionflower
1 tsp loose rose petals
1 1/2 cups oat milk
1 tbsp raw honey
1/8 tsp vanilla extract
Optional, for color: 1/4 tsp beet, hibiscus or dragonfruit powder
Method
Add chamomile, passionflower, rose and oat milk to a pan and bring to a simmer. Cut off heat and let steep, covered, 5-10 mins.
Strain and stir in raw honey, vanilla and (optional) beet / hibiscus / dragonfruit powder. Drink as is or whip in a blender for more froth (also helps the color powder break up). Sip. Chill.
